How did we get here?

Every step of my journey has helped shape the designer and creative problem-solver I am today. From early beginnings to launching my own business, this timeline highlights the milestones, lessons, and turning points that brought me here. Whether you’re curious about my background or just love a good story, here’s a look at how it all unfolded.

Humble Beginnings

My friend and I decided to start a fan site for the band SoulDecision. She called dibs on writing the content, so my job was to build the entire website. How hard could it be? Taught myself to use HTML and CSS as well as procured a very legal version of Photoshop to design the graphics.

2000-ish

Education

I started attending Champlain College in Burlington Vermont studying multimedia and graphic design. I learned a lot of Flash, which is obviously very useful these days.

2004

Starting to Freelance

I started freelancing using the website Elance as a way to stretch my skills and make a bit more money. I started to love the variety of jobs I was working on and how every day I could be working on a different project.

2009

Let's Blow this Joint

After a year at the worst job I’ve ever had, I decided I couldn’t deal with it anymore and quit that job to freelance full time. I did everything they said you shouldn’t do – didn’t have enough savings, didn’t have enough clients, didn’t have any sort of backup plan – but hey, over a decade later and I’m still kicking.
